SWI development over the year 1992 in China. The SWI is a trend indicator of the moisture conditions of the 0-100 cm soil layer, derived from the remotely sensed surface wetness information. It is a relative measure ranging from 0 to 100%, where 0% represents dry soil conditions and 100% represents wet conditions.
